Cook Shire Council would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which our Council operates. We pay respect to Elders past, present and future and value the traditions, cultures and aspirations of the First Australians of this land. We acknowledge and hold in great significance the valuable contribution that Traditional Owners have made and continue to make within the Cook Shire community.
Your Council
The Cook Shire Council is made up of a Mayor and six Councillors with a democratic election held every four years. The latest Local Government election was held on 16 March 2024 by hybrid ballot.
Mayor Robyn Holmes
Elected as Mayor in 2024, Councillor Robyn Holmes is serving in her third consecutive term with Council, having been elected as a Councillor in 2016 and re-elected in 2020. She served as Deputy Mayor from 2018 until her Mayoral appointment in 2024.
