Important Update: Ablution Block Project Deferred at Starcke Boat Ramp
20 September 2024 - 03:54PM
Cook Shire Council wishes to advise that, following a request from Juunjuwarra Aboriginal Corporation, the construction of the planned ablution block at Starcke Boat Ramp has been deferred.
Council remains committed to enhancing public facilities at key locations across the Shire. However, we acknowledge the importance of balancing infrastructure improvements with conserving the environment and the protection and preservation of cultural heritage. This deferral will allow for further collaboration with the Juunjuwarra Aboriginal Corporation to ensure that any future developments at Starcke Boat Ramp respect the environmental and cultural significance of the area.
Cook Shire Council will continue to work closely with Juunjuwarra Aboriginal Corporation to identify opportunities for enhancing visitor amenities while protecting the environment and safeguarding the cultural heritage of the area.
For more information, or to provide feedback, please contact Cook Shire Council on 4082 0500 or via email at mail@cook.qld.gov.au.
