Traffic Counter Devices

Residents are being advised that a number of new or upgraded traffic counter devices have been installed across Cook Shire.

Residents are being advised that a number of new or upgraded traffic counter devices have been installed across Cook Shire.

Approximately 20 such devices have been installed.

These traffic counters are installed to collect data on traffic volumes and, depending on the device type, may also record vehicle speeds and types. It's important to note that these devices do not identify individual vehicles or capture images.

The data gathered will assist Cook Shire Council and, in some cases, Transport & Main Roads, in understanding traffic movements. This information will help assess changes in traffic patterns and support road network design.

The aim is to eventually capture traffic movements across the critical road network to provide a comprehensive view of traffic patterns in the region.

Residents are encouraged to report any damaged traffic counters by calling (07) 4082 0500 and providing their location and details of the issue. The Asset Management team will follow up to address reported problems.

Your cooperation is appreciated in helping us gather comprehensive data for Council's decision-making processes.
